Request For Proposal from City of Santa Monica - Santa Monica, CA
City of Santa Monica - Resource Recovery and Recycling has issued request for proposal.
The City of Santa Monica (“the City”) invites proposers to respond to a Request for Information (RFI) regarding the procurement of a software and hardware technology solution using emerging technologies to move toward a more efficient, data-driven, and user-friendly model of waste, recycling, and fleet tracking. Please review the details below and the relevant due dates for preparing a written response.
The Resource Recycling and Recovery division is the City’s exclusive municipal trash, recycling, and organics hauler. Densely populated at more than 11,000 residents per square mile in its 8.4 square mile area for a total of approximately 91,000 residents, with an additional eight million visitors arriving annually for tourism, shopping, and employment (pre-pandemic), the City of Santa Monica experiences a high volume of individual and corporate waste generators. Furthermore, with the increased focus on clean and safe streets and economic development within the City, the ability to efficiently and effectively remove waste is more important than ever. In this case, the City seeks to gather more information on emerging areas, including enhanced route optimization, GPS tracking, data collection and analysis, digital work orders, and driver reporting capabilities. The purpose is to fully understand the range of software applications, with or without integrated hardware, and related vendor capabilities to support the City’s efforts to develop more efficient and robust waste hauling services. The City hereby seeks information from companies with experience in relevant technology solutions that can meet the business and technical requirements of this RFI. This is not a solicitation for products and/or services, and this inquiry will not result in an award or contract. The specifications and information gathered from this RFI will be used to evaluate the offerings of the current marketplace. They may lead to the development and preparation of a formal RFP. This RFI will not result in vendors being prequalified for additional work associated with the RFI subject, and responses shall be prepared solely at the expense of the respondent. All submissions in response to this RFI become City property and will not be returned.
