IMPORTANT NOTICE – PREQUALIFICATION PHASE ONLY This phase of the project is for prequalification purposes only and is not the bidding phase. Contractors who successfully complete the prequalification process and satisfy all requirements established by the District will receive a Prequalification Approval Letter. Only firms that receive this approval letter will be eligible to participate in the subsequent bidding phase of the project. Upon issuance of the Prequalification Approval Letter, approved contractors will be invited to submit a bid when the project is formally released for bidding. Any prior prequalification approvals, determinations, letters, emails, or other communications issued by the District shall not apply to this solicitation. All interested bidders, including those previously prequalified by the District for other projects or solicitations, must complete and submit the prequalification application and all required documentation specified in this bid. Only bidders determined by the District to be prequalified under this specific solicitation will be eligible to submit a bid. Contractors who do not receive a Prequalification Approval Letter shall not be permitted to submit a bid for this project. Please note: The Specifications, Construction Agreement, General Conditions, and other contract documents are provided for informational purposes and will govern the subsequent bidding phase. To be considered for prequalification, interested bidders are only required to submit a complete Prequalification Application, along with all required supporting documentation. General Project Description:
The existing Mail Room is outdated and no longer adequately supports the operational needs of staff. The space has a circuitous layout with a narrow work area that makes it difficult to maneuver carts efficiently and creates potential trip hazards. Staff currently work at countertops that do not provide adequate workspace for paperwork and lack ergonomic workstations necessary to support a safe and efficient work environment. Mail sorting is currently performed using makeshift cardboard box cubbies, which are inadequate for the volume and organization of mail being processed. The existing staff mail slots are also minimally utilized and will be eliminated as part of the remodel. In their place, smart lockers will be installed to provide a more efficient, organized, and secure method for mail distribution. The proposed remodel will improve the functionality and efficiency of the Mail Room by creating a more open and accessible layout, providing appropriate ergonomic workstations and adequate workspace, improving mail-sorting capabilities, and incorporating smart locker technology to better meet current and future staff needs.
