As the agency published it

Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) - 6303- Operations- Essex and Street Remote Facility has issued request for proposals, solicitation 2026-RFP-066.

COTA is seeking a qualified contractor to provide routine cleaning, litter and debris removal, graffiti removal, snow and ice treatment, inspections, and minor signage support for passenger shelters and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) shelters and pylons throughout COTA's service area. Services will include regularly scheduled cleaning of shelters, glass panels, benches, handrails, concrete pads, sidewalks, and other passenger-facing areas to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for COTA customers. The contractor will also be responsible for identifying and reporting damaged equipment, responding to emergency cleaning requests, and providing snow and ice removal services as needed. The contract will establish specific cleaning schedules and service requirements for each location type, along with performance standards and reporting requirements to ensure services are completed consistently. The agreement will also allow COTA to add or remove service locations as operational needs change throughout the contract term.

COTA maintains passenger facilities throughout Downtown Columbus and along Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors to provide safe, clean, and welcoming environments for customers. These facilities include passenger shelters, seating areas, glass panels, sidewalks, and other structures that are exposed to daily passenger use, changing weather conditions, litter, graffiti, and general wear and tear. Regular cleaning and maintenance are necessary to ensure these areas remain safe, accessible, and presentable for the public. Due to the number of locations and the frequency of services required, COTA needs a qualified contractor capable of providing consistent cleaning, inspections, snow and ice removal, and emergency response services. Maintaining these facilities not only improves the overall customer experience but also helps protect COTA's assets and prevent deterioration caused by dirt, debris, and environmental conditions. As COTA continues to evaluate and adjust its transit services, the number of passenger shelters and BRT locations may increase or decrease throughout the contract term. The agreement must provide flexibility to accommodate these changes while ensuring consistent service levels and maintaining COTA's standards for cleanliness, safety, and accessibility.
